I'm making a yummy scarf with the pink yarns. Let me tell you, not only does it knit beautifully and feel so nice while knitting, but it SMELLS good too!!! It's a soft scent, very clean~ (and let me tell you, during pregnancy, smells are magnified and there are very few I like.. but this is subtle and... well, squeeky clean and fresh).

Well, I'm officially hooked! I've peeked in her store to see what she has this week... and wow... look at this!!!

It's 5pm on a Sunday, and I'm surfing the web, seeking some yarn to make the Man's Zip Up sweater by Rowan (for hubby). It calls for All Seasons Cotton by Rowan.. 19 balls, and I think I'm going to go with Debbie Bliss's Cotton DK #023. I found a great sale on Webs' and already love this yarn.

Wish our camera was up & running.. Scott's napping on our red leather couch with Pearl laying in front of him, it's a priceless picture. I'm catching part of the Discovery Channel (pregnancy stories of course).

We had lamaze on Saturday.. I LOVE the instructor, Sandy Eckstrom from Glastonbury. She was a nurse for many years and now is retired and teaches classes in her home. Scott got us a private lesson after class ended, just in case we go in earlier than next Saturday. Phew!

Can you believe all this snow?!

Have a relaxing and enjoyable evening...

Secret Pal 7 Gifts, THEN Baby Shower update

1) Thank you, SP, I received my first SP7 gift, a package containing: 5 skeins Red Heart yarn (SP wrote that acrylic over wool is safest for knitting baby items), a box of yarns (Bebesounds~ with red heart yarns, 2 skeins), a silver-tone frame and baby album. This was very thoughtful of you to think of baby-to-be. I really do appreciate the thought and gifts.

2) NOW...... the update from the shower! Ready? I'm still so excited!!!! Well, last weekend was our baby shower. 30 of my dearest friends joined me at the Publick House for a nice breakfast. (I am mailing Sabine a post card from here asap, so she can see what I've been talking about!) We had scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns, and a killer cake! The cake had sp*rmies on them.. with writing that said "Congratulations on the long swim!" priceless... The gifts were incredibly generous and awesome, we received a swing, sea life crib set, lamp and rug! and a Taggie! (our first Taggie..) and the softest cashmere blanket I've ever come in contact with.. the outfits are from the Gap and Jamboree (LOVE their clothes!) and green rubber boots from Jamboree I just adore...

3) Baby decisions that need to be made....we're currently checking out local churches in our spare time...and Aidan's giving me a little push that's been much needed.

3) Carolyn from the Flying Ewe is sending me a surprise in the very near future, I can't wait to receive and post pictures! Her products are out of this world, and she's one of those people that you meet and realize she makes a difference in your day. Although we've yet to meet (we live quite far away from each other) I truly enjoy our friendship. When you get a minute, stop by and see her shop at www.theflyingewe.com!

4) If you haven't checked out my favorite LYS yet, what are you waiting for? www.pixie-sticks.com is just a hop, skip and a jump from my house, and it's a wonderful spot to visit. The yarns are incredibly yummy and the atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming. Go ahead and treat yourself....I dare you! :-) Due to the pregnancy-thing, I haven't gotten out much and am so looking forward to pampering myself at an upcoming knit-nite! (I'm ready to try the oh-so-soft sock yarns..and try my first sock!)

It's 7pm, and I have lots to do before the BACHELOR.. so have a wonderful evening and ttfn!

SP7 Questionnaire

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

Yes I do avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand.. and other acrylic-based yarns. I am "allergic" to acrylic, it's always made my skin irritated, and itch. So I avoid acrylic sweaters and all acrylic yarns for that main reason. I use wool, cotton and cashmere yarns. They don't have to be pricey, but they do need to be skin-friendly! For example, Knit Picks yarn is very reasonable (1.79 skein!) but it's gentle against the skin. Of course I won't turn away Rowan or Debbie Bliss yarns.. or Noro... I just adore their lines and can't get enough of them.

2. Do you spin? Our laptop was on the fritz, so we purchased a desktop and are awaiting a powercord replacement for the laptop. Needless to say it's taking a bit to get all of our software loaded.

My SP6 sent me: 5 skeins of Lana Grossa yarn (bulky, in a soft blue, very soft yarn), a (blue) pretty handmade needle holder, very nicely handknit blue socks with baby blue socks to match, 2 additional pairs of baby socks, stitch markers, lampwork beads and a handmade bag that holds the stitchmarkers. Thank you SP6!!!!! I promise to have the pics up asap!

Sabine sent a wonderful package that arrived a few days ago. I was very excited to receive such a thoughtful and fabulous package from a far away friend that I was to spoil! I cannot believe the thoughtfulness of putting this package together. Enclosed was beautiful yarn that she picked up while traveling (Baby Mohair, in a blue-ish teal shade). I will have to find the perfect scarf pattern for this yarn, I'm on the lookout! Also, Stollen!!!!!!! My husband and I were overjoyed with this gift. It is simply outstanding. It is not lasting long, and our new favorite treat.
There are German candies for my stepkids! And a green bag that is so pretty, wait till you see the pictures. I love it. I've always wanted to try Lush products, and wouldn't you know, Sabine sent me a bath treat. I used it tonight for my bath, and I'm in heaven!!!!
There is also a baby book for Aidan! It will teach him how to say animal names in German. How fun! And last but not least, the Debbie Bliss Toy book. I have already made a sheep! this will be Scott's mascott for the knitting shop. Sabine, thank you so very much! You have made the SP6 program a great experience, not only did I make a good friend, I am truly touched by your thoughtfulness.

Have a nice evening!

Job Opportunities for Systems Professionals in CT

Hi! how have you been?! how were your holidays?!!!! what are your New Years resolutions?

Every now and then I like to post what job opportunities we have available~ in case my fellow SP6's know of anyone that is in need of a new assignment!

Here you go:

Java Developers
Websphere Developers
Perl & Unix Consultants
Business Analysts w/Commercial & Personal Lines experience

Feel free to email me here with any referrals...

On the Holiday front.. how is everyone spending New Years Eve? Weekend's here! I'm looking forward to: Sleeping in, Knitting, Swimming and maybe even a Lifetime flick! It's been a very hectic week.

My mom comes over Sunday to go through the baby shower list.... (did I tell you she's having it at the Publick House in January?!)

We bring my stepdaughter to a dance tonight, and Sunday she rides carriage (miniature horses) at the shore. She'll have a great weekend! And Ian needs some serious help with his math homework. There was a slight meltdown last night over it, so we'll withhold the caffeine and sportscenter until we muddle through. :-)

I haven't yet received a package from my SP6, but we still have 2 days until the program's over, so I'm holding out hope! I have volunteered to be an Angel in the program- we shall see....

I received the most GORGEOUS handspun yarn in the mail! It's from Carolyn at The Flying Ewe (www.theflyingewe.com). I cannot tell you how soft and luxurious this yarn is.. it's a slice of heaven. I'm going to work on a scarf tonight with it.. with size 13 needles. She sent me 3 skeins- what a wonderful surprise to come home to! The skein I'll use tonight is blue with purple variations throughout... I can't stop feeling the softness.. what a treat! Thank you so much Carolyn! I hope you are enjoying your needles and I look forward to hearing how your knitting is progressing!

Have a great evening-
Chele
xo

Dot Pebbles

This is what I'm currently working on... Somedays you're in-between, and you're egg salad.

Life's been zipping by. I'm going through the motions, and everything's in check. Days, weeks and months are flying by, and it's time I do some me-things. Everyone needs to do these, to stay balanced. I haven't gone to the gym in eons, I haven't read a book- or listened to my Ipod..
Instead, I have multi-tasked, tried to get ahead, get afloat, and catch up. I've done things, but haven't been things. I haven't been into the moment, but instead tasked the moment.

Today when I had lunch (egg salad) with my friend Tamara, she told me I look serious. I feel serious. Those of you that know me, know, I'm not serious. I never order f*cking egg salad. I'm into lobster and living a bit on the edge.. I don't want to settle for egg salad. Yet I've been settling for egg salad, and way far into egg salad.

So how does one go about changing their life-food selections? How do I bag this serious rutt I'm in? It starts with actually going to the gym, the beautiful gym that I pay $50 a month for.. that has a pool.. and showers that have the nozzles that really have the water hit your back hard like it's massaging you. And bubble baths. I haven't had a bubble bath in what, a year now? that's insane. In singlehood, I never would've allowed this to slip from my weekly pattern. But with marriage and stepkids, comes routine, tasks and 5-minute showers.

I've also slipped into the pattern of talking about the tasks in parenting and marriaging versus doing things. Scott & I golfed 3x a week when we were first married. We did date things. I was spontaneous, I would run through a sprinkler on a side street just because. I'd do anything on a dare (and have the pictures for proof..) But today, I'm as Tamara says, "serious." Don't get me wrong, this did not happen overnight, and without a fight. I've fought serious and routine. Tooth and nail. Somehow I lost my will to fight it.. and became accepting of the sandwich selection.

So although tonight I'll go home to egg salad, by end of week, I'll be lobster. xo Chele

Hump Day

Hot off the press: We have a bunch of new openings at my work.... is anyone out there interested in systems consulting in CT? It's definitely worth the trip! They have the most beautiful yarns (I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous Opal yarn selections~ the colors are dreamy) They offer a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and truly have everything you need to knit the perfect project. The calendar on their website shows you when the next event will be. I enjoyed licorice tea~ while relaxing in one of their comfy chairs.

Preggo Update: I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, a wee bit too early. I've been instructed to drink double the fluids, and chill a bit. Been having trouble sleeping (why do I think of so many things at 3:00am?)~ so I'm working on fixing that. Promising myself to get to the pool 2x this week.

Hubby: Scott either has the flu or lyme disease. I made him an appointment today at the doctors, and like the typical stubborn guy that he is, he has cancelled it. Short of physically bringing him myself, I am checking for a fever daily and asking repeated questions about the aches and pains.

SP Stuff: I'm looking forward to hearing my Secret Pal's reaction to the gift I just sent her...

I'm designing knitting roll-ups as we speak. We may contract out for the labor, but I already have the material picked out and let me tell you it is lovely! I'm bewildered. I heard from the person that was to spoil me at the onset of SP6.. very upbeat email~ I can tell this was going to be a fun person to correspond with. She emailed me on my birthday (10/4), and I haven't heard from her since. She was going to send me one package, instead of several small, once I correctly guessed her location. I sent in a guess at my birthday.. but haven't heard a peep back, and it's been over a month... I hope she's OK. I've written, but haven't heard back, and am bummed. I understand things happen, and if she has to drop-out from this, I'd appreciate being notified..

Also.. yes Audrey, I have had baby brain lately! I goofed up in writing her great web address, so here's the corrected version (also corrected in yesterday's post, just in case)...www.pixie-sticks.com. Scott & I are looking forward to stopping by tonight to see the shop.

On the work front, Matt, one of our developers, just bought his first home. We pitched in for a group gift (toaster oven) but there was the suggestion to bring in a gift-wrapped item from each person's home.. that is somewhat gaudy. Matt's ultra conservative and shy, so the reactions will be priceless. I brought in a 70's lamp, and there are two flamingo's here, a crocheted cow air freshener, and miscellaneous other goofy things. Bash is at 10:00am. In the meantime, everything is being "hidden" in my office until the coast is clear.

Very tired today. Picked Taylor up at 12am last night, from her volunteer day at the Equine Affaire. She went with Ruth~ the sweetest woman in the world (who I also work with). Needless to say I'm on 5 hours of sleep, and in need of caffiene like you read about.

Have an enjoyable day.
xo

Tiny bubbles...

Here's one of the most luscious yarns I've ever worked with. Very soft to the touch, and it produces beautiful results. Classic Elite Bubbles.

And some exciting news to report~ our area has Stitch-n-Bitch meetings.. woo hoo! There is an Enfield Group that meets on Wednesday nights (I'll try and make an appearance tonight with some of Scott's needles as freebies), and an Avon group.... but even better, there's a woman that opened a shop in my own town of Tolland~ and she has Friday evening gatherings (2x a month). Stop by and check out Audrey's website when you get a chance: www.pixie-sticks.com I'll share more details of her work after Friday's get-together. There's a picture of her home on the website and it looks very charming!

It's going to rain today in New England... but with that said, life is good. I had a pepperoni grinder just now for lunch, and Baby AJ is kicking up a storm (oops! did I give away his initials just then?!) Well then this calls for a knitting contest. Now it's Monday, I'm pooped, and want it to still be Sunday.

On a knitting front, I worked on my "me" scarf, with Classic Elite Bubbles yarn. Used size 15 needles, so it's coming along rather quickly. Will post pics after my next nap!

Our dog, Pearl (maltese) has mastered the art of eating pumpkin seeds, and spitting out the shell. Quite impressive for the little 5-pounder. Cuter than a button. Pics on this as well, after said nap.

I heard from my international SP6 back on my birthday (10/4) yet haven't heard anything since- I hope she's OK.. SP6 are you still there?

The person I'm spoiling has been so much fun~ her blogs, written in German, are quite witty, she translates them into English~ and her knitted projects are at the advanced level~ true works of art. Since Scott mailed out her last package with our names (due to customs), I have since sent her a Barnes & Noble gift, revealing who I am. In the meantime, she's told me she's sending us some home-made stollen, which I've never tried. We've been trying to firm up a significant order with a needle supplier to prepare for holiday sales, but unfortunately the communications have not gone well AT ALL!

Our phone calls and emails went un-returned for days, and it appears this particular company does not have the means to deliver on their orders. (What would you think, if someone told you, you'd receive materials for your customers in one- to eight weeks?) We're also receiving much negative feedback from fellow shop owners on this particular company's product quality, and there appears to be a "warning label" associated with the product- which scares us! We do not have a warm and fuzzy selling any product to our customers with a warning label. So suffice to say, we're about to throw in the towel on this little venture~ although it looked very attractive at first glance. Lesson of the day, if something looks too good to be true in the ad, it probably is.

Enough about me and my nightmarish ordeal~ how are you doing?!

She's dressed and ready to party

Here's MIL with her new clothes. I'm putting together packages tonight that include the pattern and all yarns, sterling silver earring components/handblown blass, all materials and knitting needle to make your very own MIL!

Also a HUGE thank you to Katrina! She read on my blog that I didn't hear back from my SP5 for some time, and sent me a wonderful gift in the mail! 3 skeins of incredibly soft, hand-spun off-white yarn and kool-aid to dye it with! I will post pics of the end result. We had a blast attempting dying for the first time ever. Skein #1 came out beautiful! Now for the next two! You can visit Katrina at http://xlp5.blogspot.com!

I spoke with the owner of Namaste Needles last evening. I am Michele's husband and chief inspector of every row and stitch. As any good husband I am in charge of paying attention and looking up from my work or the ball game and being impressed with every new inch or 25.4 mm of knitted magic. Michele is off to bed with Pearl our dog she is 5 mos pregnant....Michele that is! If it was the other way I would have a tough time explaining my sympathy cravings. What would I be eating, pupperoni, milkbones? Nothing against those two things, I have tried them and they both suck. I imagine "Gracie"(michele) will be quite surprised to find that I have hacked into her blog and blogged away.

The pic above is of our new make your own needle kit!
Fun and easy instructions....all parts included

I am new to this but guess the idea is to write about what I did today, so here goes: first as many on you know I manufacture wooden knitting needles so that is my day for the most part. This morning I spent a few hours preparing shipments to London, France, Canada and here in the United States. After shipping I did some banking and stopped at one of my suppliers. After that I came back and worked on our retail packaging for our needle sets and kits to make your own needle sets. Then Gracie came home and we spent a quiet night together.

How far can you throw a trash can?
For nine days it rained here...we received approximately 20" of rain or 508mm. Tuesday's are trash pick up and I had a good laugh watching the trash men throwing our cans as far as thy could....primarily due to the frustration of the water weight. I felt bad for them and I was glad they vented out on my cans. Will post the final piece soon!

My "big" secret pal package has been sent (to oversees, I won't say where yet...), and I can't wait to hear the response. I'm also sending out some surprises to a knitter in Canada, that recently commented on my blog (both of our SP5's disappeared at the same time!).

And....could someone please advise me as to how to add my favorite blog-reads to my site? My Secret Pal has written me (I can't figure out from where!) yet another nice note, sharing some insight to herself, which I enjoyed. She sounds like someone I have some things in common with.
The Pal I'm spoiling has also been writing very interesting notes, and has taken the time to translate her language into English on her blog for me. This is proving to be a wonderful experience, all around! I'm getting ready to send a package out to my spoilee... a set of handcrafted knitting needles...3 skeins of Miracle yarn...tea leaves... yummy hand lotions by crabtree & evelyn..stationery....and a jewelry-making kit from Beads East in Vernon. I went a little overboard, but I wanted to make the combined gift really special...and can't wait to get it out in the mail so she can enjoy it the coming months!

I have not heard anymore from my SP5 from last round to figure out who she is.... but thank-you for the presents: a sheep toy, 3 skeins of Debbie bliss yarn, notepads ("M"!), a great knitting journal, and bath & body works lotions!

Today was a bit chilly to start, but is absolutely gorgeous at the moment. Oh- and yesterday my invisible braces were finally removed! (after 1.5 years!). Now I'm wearing invisible retainers and I'm just thrilled with the results. I'm to wear them for 6 weeks, all the time except when eating.. and I cannot wait to try corn on the cob again! I'd say popcorn too, but I've been cheating along the way there. I have a great orthodontist, he's close to 70 and he's just a hoot. His dental assistnat, Jodi is a blast to talk to- yesterday I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. She was taking impressions after they came off, which means that she puts this gook in a tray, and then puts it in my mouth for 10 seconds. Well the top tray gook started to go too far in the back of my mouth and I thought I was going to loose it, so I stood up quick to get it out, and accidentally stood on my floor length skirt in the process and it started to come down. At the same time, Jodi's pants got caught and hers started to come down. It was a classic I Love Lucy moment, that was priceless, and we would've won oodles of Funniest Videos dollars if it were caught on film.

Haven't felt any fluttering in my belly in a while, but we're at 17 weeks now.. almost 18 which is half way there!

Have a wonderful day.......enjoy the weather!!!!........Michele

Wednesday but feels like a Tuesday

I'm a bit backwards today! My spoiler is from overseas, and wrote me immediately to say hello! I can't wait to find out where she's from, and to learn more about her.
The person I'm spoiling has written back to me a few times already- and is taking the time to go in and translate her blog entries. I'm planning one large package, instead of several small ones. I hear postage is high going overseas, so I will be sending one large gift versus several small- although I won't be including the postage costs my budgeting. I'll be going over it as it is, so what's the point now! :-) I already purchased 3 skeins of Classic Elite's Miracle yarn (in the most gorgeous green!!), bath products, and for the finishing touch I'm adding a set of the hand-carved knitting needles. Also- once I have this all wrapped, I will want to send it out asap... so she can enjoy it throughout the SP6 process.... I can't wait to hear the reaction already!

I'm currently knitting a man's scarf out of Debbie Bliss's Cashmerino Chunky (blue) yarn. It will most likely be for my husband- then I'll make a duplicate for the baby-to-be. I just love this yarn, it's incredibly soft to knit with!

My husband has assumed the "sheep toy" I received from my mystery SP5 person (identity tbd).. and he's using it as his company mascot (knitting company).

Make it a fabulous day!

Happy Tuesday~
My last SP gift was received very well.. It's knitted needles of course... and a few other suprises.

I haven't posted lately as I've been either on vaca in Maine (Moosehead), sleeping (1st trimester fun) or running to one appointment or the next. Has anyone in knitting land ever had the CVS procedure? I tested "screen positive" for Downs..so the next step is an invasive test.. which is now Thursday morning, Hartford Hospital. Not looking forward to giving a sample of my placenta, or the big needle, but this too shall be over in a blip..and God willing, all will be healthy.
I'd love to hear from others that have been through this.

I hear the crickets tonight, and the air smells good. As you know, Scott is hand-carving hundreds of needles these days, and I had written to her asking if she'd like to try a set. I was blown away when she actually responded, sending me her home address in London, and a Yes! These are complimentary, of course, and the mere thought that she'd try them is a honor for Scott. She is sending us a signed copy of her new book.

To my Secret Pal 5.. if you are reading this- just you wait.. I'll be sending you the same ones we're sending her as a huge thank you, the minute I find out who you are and what sizes you like!! She sends the most unique and thoughtful gifts, and knows my taste to a T! I don't know how I got so lucky to have this person be my SP5! Saturday I received a Knitting Journal. It's small enough to carry in my knitting bag, yet has so many fun sections to write in! I need to post the picture, because words do not give this journal justice. Also in the package was the most fabulous smelling hand lotions that I cannot wait to use! (again.. how perfect for the knitting bag?!) and last but not least, there were "M" notepads. Thank you, my SP5! I hope you are being spoiled by your SP! And I can't wait for the reveal to send a thank you your way!

On knitting news, I am working on a baby sweater from the Debbie Bliss Easy Knits for Beginners, again with the DB lilac yarn! It is so soft and wonderful to work with, and I have just enough to make a sweater with, after finishing the hat. I'm a slow knitter, so I'm only 1 inch into the front of the sweater.

The weekend was a HOT one! We hoped to get some golfing in while the kids went to my inlaw's boat, but postponed until next weekend due to the heat.

The hiring process is a bit slow during the summer- however we have 10 openings (in Manchester, CT) for Web Developers, SAP Consultants, Access Developers and Project Managers - if you know of anyone that might be interested- I'd be glad to extend an interview! Very well received. I've also told 5 of my best girlfriends, it's so hard to keep this a secret! I finished my first baby hat, from Debbie Bliss's Baby Knits for Beginners, out of the gorgeous lilac DB yarn sent from my SP5! I used a chrochet hook to do the seams (I could not locate my seaming needle anywhere..) and it worked well.

My SP5 was very thoughtful to ask to let her know if there was anything I was wishing for. I love little sheep-type instruments - like the sheep tapemeasure (adorable!...definitely on the wish list!), I love small, cute, or fluffy things to put in the knitting bag.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Last week I had a bad sinus headache, so I took some sudafed. I had terrible stomach cramps, and figured it's that time, so I took advil. But for some reason, it didn't go away. I went home after work and fell asleep at 6pm - and slept right through till the alarm next morning. What's your guess?! I was stumped, yet continued to feel lousy. Gingerale seemed to help, but not much else. Oh, and here's a clue. My boobs kill! Have you figured it out yet? I was clueless as of yesterday even. For some reason, I decided to do the pee on the ept wand thing last night, and WOW! I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon! There were two pink lines, clear as day! Scott was cooking dinner and I walked up with the little plastic wand and handed it to him, saying "this can't be right.." he looked right at me and said "congratulations, you're pregnant!" It still doesn't feel real, but I'm now of course feeling a nice glow! I didn't expect it to happen so fast. I went off the pill 3 months ago, after being on it forever. We decided not have too high of expectations, as I'm 38 and I anticipated having a tough time concieving. Webmd.com says that the baby is now the size of a bb! I have an appointment Saturday morning at my gynecologist.. and she's going to do the official test, and prescribe prenatal vitamins (which I've been taking from the regular vitamin section at CVS). None of my in-person friends have my blog address... so I'm actually writing the news to my blogger friends first, that don't even know me yet! We decided to just tell a few close friends first.. and hold off telling Scott's kids and Mom, just in case. I hope all goes well and it's a healthy journey for me and the teeny one! :-) xo

Hot, sticky and icky

It's raining hot rain today. I have meetings in Springfield today, and am sporting poof-head hair. If you are reading this, and do not live in New England, you are not missing a thing this week! Later today, we take Taylor to an hour of horseback riding in a toasty hot barn.. I feel SO bad for the horses! The upside is it can only get cooler!!
On the knitting front, last night we went out for dinner at the local pizza spot and I looked through my Elizabeth Zimmerman Knitting Without Tears. This pattern is from the Teen Knitting Club book (yes, I'll admit it.. I had purchased this to learn knitting. And come to find out there are a few cute things within worth trying....don't tell anyone!) My next project after this will be a big-girl handbag from Loop-D-Loop (beautiful book, and really worth the purchase). We had a non-kid weekend - so Scott and I were able to have a few date nights and days. To escape yesterday's heat, we went to Barnes & Noble for iced coffees and browse the magazines. Then I surprised Scott with a new guitar from the Guitar Center.. since he's a lefty, it's rare that he finds one he loves.. and since he did yesterday, we just had to get it! His recording/music site is www.scootersongs.com by the way. Feels like it took a month for the weekend to arrive. Kim, one of my closest friends, lost her dad of cancer last week. He was a Vietnam Vet and the air force and marines did an unbelievable job at the service. The Sunday wake and Monday funeral started the week off on an emotional note. Been out-straight at work. Last week I was recruiting for 3 new openings, and this week it's 9. Scott's been working around the clock, and I can't wait for a date-night this weekend!! Fought the urge to hit snooze this morning, and got out of bed at 5:30 am to hit the gym. Getting on the scale was a mistake. I had to click the weight thingie over one....official confirmation why my pants are getting too tight. Now I'm back to doing the backwards walk with lights off..if you know what I mean. Looking forward to a low-key weekend.. a trip to Starbucks and maybe an old movie or two. Top Gun...About Last Night... and Say Anything are on my top 5 list. Also want to see Closer.. that's out on pay-per-view. Scott & I need to wrap up plans for vaca in August. Dad's building a house in Maine, so we're taking the kids camping for a week nearby (did I mention I hate bugs and worms..).. anyway off to look through some resumes... happy knitting!

Secret Pal 5

Last night I started preparing package #1 for my SP5. Being the guy that is, he asks alot of questions about the "tools" being used. He's pretty handy around the house (sometimes), so my question of the day was do you think you could ever make cherry wooden needles? He of course can't say no to a challenge. After several months using some loud machine sander thing in the garage and conducting research, I'm happy to report that Scott's hand-crafted wooden needles have been sold from Bangor Maine to LA and are the fastest selling new wooden needles on ebaY, outselling all the major manufacturers. In a period of just two months his needles have obtained 35% of the ebaY market. They feel silky, and very warm... and I'll never go back to aluminum!

Favorite things

chocolate covered cherries
Life section of Sunday paper
pedicures
a great read
blue skies with few clouds
oceans and wet beach sand
islands
free stuff
jewelry
secret-keeping friends
exfoliating scrubs
see-saws
clear night skies and lots of stars
corn on the cob with tons of butter
bubble baths
LOBSTER
my maltese
spooning
crushes
convertibles
sleeping with the windows open
lingerie

Secret Pal 5

Hello!
